Steel Ute Trays: Bred for the Outback
Tough, durable utility trays for off-road vehicles are a specialty of Ingkerreke Commercial’s steel fabrication division. Designed for outback roads by tradesmen born and bred in the Red Centre, the trays are consistently recommended by Alice Springs car dealers as valued add-ons to their off-road vehicles. As workshop manager Dave Sanders says: “These are not city trays.” Indeed, our trays are one hundred per cent local, fully manufactured in Alice Springs, with steel, powder coating, welding, labour, paints and accessories sourced entirely in the Centre.
The tray itself takes less than three days to make, and can be provided in under two weeks from order to powder coating and fitting. A tray can be arranged by the car dealer or direct with Ingkerreke Commercial for between $3500 and $4500, depending on the vehicle. That’s slightly more than an off-the-shelf tray, but tray owners know it’s worth it.
“They are built strong, that’s why they come to us,” says Ryan Wark, “they’re high quality.”
“They cost slightly more, but you are getting the build quality and strength.” About 80 per cent of the vehicles fitted are Toyota Land Cruisers. But trays are easily fitted to most models, including Toyota HiLux, Mitsubishi Triton, Ford Ranger and Nissan Navarra. Each tray comes with a full 12 month warranty.
